Habitat for Humanity

Dedication

The dedication for the Habitat house that we helped build will be on Sunday February 20 at 2:00.  The service will be at the homesite of 43 Leica Lane.  The homeowner is Tammi Ellison.  Call Mike @ 359-8772 for information or directions.  Thanks for all your prayers and help as we completed this project.

Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Habitat is an ecumenical ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing throughout the world.  Lexington UMC is a member of a coalition of churches dedicated to building habitat homes in the Lexington area.  We collect the funding and furnish volunteer labor to build a home for a recipient chosen by the local Habitat affiliate.  The new homeowner is chosen on three criteria; need of housing, ability to pay, and willingness to partner.  The new homeowner must repay an interest-free mortgage to habitat and furnish hundreds of man-hours on their own and other habitat homes to qualify.  Our coalition has built several habitat homes in the Lexington area over our years of participation.
