The structure for LUMC can be thought of as a triangle sitting on its point. The supporting legs are the new Church Council Team and the "Appropriations Management Team." The latter team is composed of the committees that are required by the Book of Discipline. These committees are the Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Nominating Committee, the Pastor Parish Committee, and the Communications Committee. Also included in the Appropriations Management Team for LUMC are the Long Range Planning Committee and the Child Development Board.

Purpose: To provide for the planning and implementing of a program of nurture, outreach and witness at LUMC.

NURTURE:
Purpose Statement: The Nurture ministries team shall give attention to liturgical, educational, worship and stewardship ministries within the church family.

Training of chairpersons & other key positions is available through district & church resources.

Communications & team training is part of each chair's responsibilities.

It is vital that the NOW Ministries Team work together throughout the year in program planning and facilitating.

The Work Area leaders should seek out persons to work with them, forming a team to create and implement ministries of our church.

The Church Council Part II - Appropriations Management Team

Purpose: To provide resources to assist in the programs of The Church Council and to assist in the maintenance of these resources. The committees that make up the Appropriations Management Team are:


COMMITTEE ON LAY LEADERSHIP
This committee deals with all staff personnel matters and. It is the responsibility of this committee to communicate to the Church Council, charge council, and to the congregation as appropriate. The chairperson of this group reports to the church council. Team Leader - Frank Seeby

COMMITTEE ON NOMINATIONS AND PERSONNEL
This committee nominates lay people to leadership and work area positions (except for the chair, trustees). These nominations must be approved by the charge conference. The Sr. Pastor is the chairperson of this group. Team Leader - Sr. Pastor

BOARD OF TRUSTEES
This committee is responsible for the care and maintenance of all church property as needed to support the programs of the church. In addition, civic group coordination is provided by the trustees. The chairperson of this committee reports to the church council. Team Leader - Nyle Burks

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
This committee is responsible for the annual creation and monitoring of the church budget. The chairperson of the committee reports to the church council. In addition, the financial campaign will be led by finance committee with the stewardship team leader to assist on finance committee. Team Leader - Peyton Harrell

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
This committee is responsible for facilitating communications between the church leaders and the congregation. The chairperson of this committee reports to the church council. Team Leader - David Marshall

CHILD DEVELOPMENT BOARD
This committee is responsible for the administration of the preschool program. The chairperson of this committee reports to the church council. Team Leader - Bob Leonard

BUILDING COMMITTEE
This committee is responsible for carrying out the building program of the church. Their current project is the new Family Life Center and other additions to the church that have been identified as needed. Team Leader Angie Cunningham

Purpose: To provide for the administration of LUMC organizational and temporal life and to function as the executive agency of the charge conference. Team Leader - Richard Kizer

Total administrative positions: 30

Membership Secretary - Does not sit on the Council, but required by the Book of Discipline.

Church Historian - Does not sit on the Council, but important to have.

**Current members at large are to serve out their terms through the year 2000. Beginning in 2001, we will then have three (3) members at large. One will serve one year, one will serve two years, and one will serve three years, as their respective terms end. The newly elected members at large shall each serve a term of three years, thus establishing a yearly class rotation.
