Welcome to our Preschool page
Purpose Lexington United Methodist Preschool program is a church sponsored outreach program. It provides activity-oriented care to walking toddlers ages 1 and 2 years old, and preschool for children ages 3 and 4 years old. The 4 year old preschool class provides a readiness program for 5 year old kindergarten. This program is available to children of members of LUMC and the community at large.

Philosophy
The LUMC Preschool program provides varied learning experiences for toddlers and for preschool children taught in a Christian environment. We are concerned with the intellectual, social, physical, emotional, spiritual, and creative growth of the whole child. Each child is helped to experience success and positive feelings of self-worth at his/her own level of maturity.

Registration
Registration for the 2008/2009 school year begins in February.- Church Members - February 10th - Room 104
- Current Preschool Families - February 11th - 15th, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm - Room 104
- Registration open to the public - February 19th. Due to the volume of people on our waiting lists, it is recommended that you come into the Preschool, room 104, to register early.

School Term
The 2008 - 2009 school year begins September 2 and runs through May 22. The daily hours of operation are 9:00 am until Noon. Lexington School District One holidays and work days are observed.*Openings for walking toddlers age 12 months and 23 months (10 children per class) are available Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.
*A class for preschoolers age 2 years (2nd birthday by 9/1) with 10 children meets on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.
*Classes for 3 year old preschoolers (15 children each class) - 2 classes meet Tuesday and Thursday, and 1 class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (We request that 3 year olds be "potty proficient") The child must be three years old before September 1.
*Classes for 4 year old preschoolers (16 children each class) – 1 class meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and 1 class meets Monday through Thursday. The child must be 4 years old before September 1.
*"Lunch Bunch" will be offered for preschoolers age 3 and up on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from Noon - 1 pm.

Curriculum
The toddler program emphasizes learning through play. It incorporates story time, nursery rhymes, music and art activities. Ample time is set aside for important play activities that help in the development of gross motor skills.The preschool class activities strive toward developing and refining the social, gross and fine motor, self help, and cognitive skills. We use the Wonder-Filled Weekdays Christian Preschool Ministries Program for our religious development.

Fees
RegistrationFee:$85 per child per class payable at registration and is non-refundable.
Tuition Fee:
Tuition is a fee broken down into 9 monthly payments, beginning in September. Tuition is due the by the first of each month. If payment is not received by the 10th then a late payment fee of $10 will be added.

LUMC members receive a 10% discount on their monthly fees. No discounts are given on Lunch Bunch, Supply or Registration Fees.
