Small Group Covenant Resources
On this page you will find useful resources for creating and maintaining a group covenant. It is important for a group to have a covenant from the beginning. It is a tangible reminder of what the group has agreed to, encourages commitment, establishes clear and agreed upon expectations, helps resolve conflicts that may arise, and holds the group accountable to their vision.
A covenant should not be made and filed away. It should be used as a reminder of the commitment the group members made and should be reviewed regularly. It could also be changed as conditions within the group changes. For example, the group may have originally included LICS as their missional service in their covenant. Later the group may want to add another mission such as The Children's Shelter. The covenant needs to be updated to include this new mission.
There are four key points that every covenant shound include. Click here to read about the four key points.
You can download a sample covenant form that includes many things you need to consider. It is a MS Word document that you can modify to fit the needs of your group. You can click any of the links below to see samples of covenants that other small groups used in the past.
Training for this component and more is available for all small group leaders. For more information contact Ruth Arant at Ruth@lexumcsc.com or David Marshall @ Dmarshall3@sc.rr.com.
